The Gindler barn, dating to pre-Civil War years, was repaired and restored at its new site, Willoughby Heritage Farm & Conservation Reserve. A collaborative effort among volunteers, members of the Timber Framers Guild, and Trillium Dell Timberworks, the 36-by-85-foot barn was reassembled during a two-week project in July 2008.

Willoughby Heritage farm and Conservation Reserve is a 40-acre site that was purchased with an Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation 2000 grant. Visitors to the farm are able to immerse themselves in a 1940s era working farm with an important addition - modern day renewable energy technologies and resource conservation practices.
