A Dunlap, IL Timber Frame Home

The timbers for this frame were harvested from a stand of virgin Bur Oak trees that are being sustainably managed. Due to the short lengths of the timbers, the frame required unusual joinery decisions and design. Hammer beam trusses highlight the dormers and a black walnut boss pin complements the hip roof above the breakfast nook. We also fabricated and installed a black walnut and white ash open tread staircase. The combination of geothermal radiant floor heating and Fischer SIPs panels makes this house very energy efficient..
