Trillium Dell fabricated seven buildings, the stockade fence, fraising line, gates, bridges and well for Fort Massac State Park in Metropolis, Illinois. This project involved over 200,000 board feet of oak (our houses usually involve 9-15,000 board feet). The buildings are stacked timbers with half-dovetail joints. They were constructed at our shop in Knoxville, IL then shipped to Metropolis, IL where they were assembled by River City Construction, L.L.C. .
Trillium Dell Timberworks was hired by Knutson Construction to replicate the original cupola and bell tower, which were destroyed by fire during restoration. Both of the super structures were built out of dry white oak, and held together completely with knife plates and other mechanical connectors. Trillium Dell Timberworks was under a fast-paced timeline to procure, design, fabricate and install the new replacement components in the fall of 2002.
Twelve thousand board feet of Trestlewood II "Salty Fir" timbers we used to fabricate the core of this 9,000 square foot home located in a park like setting in the center of Bloomington. Walnut and Port Orford Cedar timbers and logs were used for the exterior gable and porch.
We removed, restored and reinstalled the ornate double hung windows on the second floor of this historic building in Ottawa, Illinois. Completed in 1858, this mansion is one of the finest examples of antebellum Italiante architecture still standing in Illinois. Originally built as a private home, this magnificent building now houses the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center.
