An Easy Fix With The Right System
Damaged sills are a common problem remedied by lifting the walls (or entire barn) to remove and replace damaged sill sections. We prefer locally obtained white oak for sill material as it is naturally rot resistant.
In situ sill repair can be done when the frame does not need to be relocated, dismantled and re-erected. In this picture, the wall has been lifted using cribbing towers and I-beams, allowing the damaged sills to be slipped out and replaced.
Joist pockets are being cut in this replacement sill at the shop.
This restored floor system has been installed over a new foundation, showing both new existing sills.
